and let learning and life reconnect

Slow down,

and let learning and life
reconnect

Education is not just passing on knowledge — it is a journey of reconnecting with ourselves, with others and with nature.

About Us

Not for standards, not for certificates —
simply for the joy of growing.

In a modern society racing after material growth, people often measure their worth by outward achievement and neglect to know and nourish their inner life, leading to imbalance in body and mind and division in society. The arrival of the AI era has left many uncertain about the meaning of life — we believe that learning is the best way to find joy and rediscover meaning.

Our core mission is to promote slow living education. Through our three learning themes — body & mind, art & companionship, and ecology & sustainability — we help individuals develop awareness, connect the creativity of the group, and build a culture of mutual support and shared wellbeing.

How We Learn Together

  1. Sunlight through golden sweetgum leaves, with the words: breathe slowly, ripen slowly — all is well

    Body & Mind

It starts with noticing your own body and emotions. Through aromatherapy, food, daily rhythms and meditation, rediscover how to be with yourself.

  2. A round table covered with flowers drawn by participants in oil pastel on black card, as everyone points, discusses and takes photos

    Art & Companionship

Bringing art into everyday life and helping creators be seen. Through writing, music, handcraft and performance, we help each other express and understand.

  3. Ecology & Sustainability

Widening our view from the individual to the land. Through slow travel, local culture and learning together about environmental issues, we practise thriving with our environment.

Our Activities

  • Body & Breath

Through practices of breathing and body awareness, we slow down, learn again how to care for body and mind, and find steadiness, clarity and the rhythm of life in our everyday routines.

  • Teacher Empowerment

We support teachers in exploring social and emotional learning (SEL), bringing awareness, empathy and slow living practice into the classroom so that education becomes a warmer part of everyday life.

  • General Assembly

Members gather to look back on the year, share what we have achieved, exchange ideas and decide on the next steps together, so that the spirit of slow living keeps spreading.

  • Slow Living Day

At a chosen slow living venue, instructors lead a full day of classes, experiences and everyday practice. Set aside the busyness, feel the present moment, and practise spending a day slowly — in nature and in good company.

  • Slow Living Talks

We visit companies, schools and public agencies with a range of slow living classes and experiences, helping different groups attend to their wellbeing, become more self-aware and adjust the pace of life — bringing the ideas of slow living back into daily life and work.

  • Slow Living Forum

Speakers from different fields and local partners share the stage — from education and the arts to everyday local life — exchanging practices and visions of slow living, so that more people can see the change that slowing down brings.

Notes from the "種土" Screening: A Seed Worth Waiting For

A documentary screening in the school library brought students from the tea-making and mechatronics departments together with aunties and uncles from the community. Director 顏蘭權 spent eight years documenting the land and its people — and that afternoon, together, we planted a seed worth waiting for.

Slow Living with a Traveller — Travel with Care, and the Rhythm of Life Changes

This year's Taitung Expo is built around the "slow economy". Taitung, once called the place "left over for others to pick up", escaped over-development — and has become the top choice for a slow economy city. Travel with care, and it really will change the rhythm of your life.

Slow Living through Scent — June · Java Citronella

June is hot and humid; it is easy to feel tired and irritable, and the mosquitoes come out. Citronella was once an important cash crop in Taiwan — let its freshness bring back a simple, pure sense of ease.

Slow Living in Words — June · 中 (zhōng, middle)

When we think of 中, the Doctrine of the Mean usually comes to mind — leaning neither way, neither too much nor too little; in other words, "just right". The earliest 中 may have been the flag flying over the central army. And what does 中 mean in the Ghost Festival (中元節) and the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節)?

Slow Down With Us

May everyone rediscover, through learning, their connection with themselves, with others and with nature.
